Makita LXFD01CW 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch Driver-Drill Kit Review

Makita has been leading the way in cordless tools since I can remember, my first cordless drill was a Makita the batteries were a bit different in those days they were the full length of the handle and slipped inside it. Cordless drill batteries have come a long way since then. The latest offering From the company is the Makita LXFD01CW 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch Driver-Drill Kit this latest drill replaces the Makita BDF452HW

About Makita’s 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Series

With the new model, Makita has increased the torque, even more, giving the drill even more power the old model delivered plenty at 450 in-lbs of max torque but the new model delivers 480 in-lbs of max torque and 290 inch-pounds PTI Torque and let me say you notice the difference.

They have incorporated the new four-pole maximum torque design, they have also managed to bring the weight down to 3.3 pounds that make for even better user experience when using the drill for long periods. They have also incorporated their rubberized soft grip which I really like above all other cordless drills on the market it really does reduce hand fatigue and reduce the chances of getting hand blisters.
Makita LXFD01CW Kit Review

And if you should happen to drop the drill the rubberized casing just bounces so less chance of permanent damage to your drill. The LXFD01CW is perfect if you are needing a compact and good design drill for long periods of use. Drilling into steel or wood doesn’t seem to phase the drill motor but with the extra torque they have built-in, it shouldn’t really.

They seem to have bot the size on the drill just right making it perfect for pro users or homeowners alike, though it is more for the pro contractor who will be using it for prolonged periods. Window fitters, plumbers, and electricians will all benefit from the compact design being able to get into all sorts of awkward places you encounter.

Ergonomic Design:

Fancy name ergonomic but what does it mean for you, well this sort of design made the old model an instant hit with contractors because they could drill all day long without having joint ache and the likes. The old model used to be 8 inches long has reduced this on the Makita LXFD01CW 18-Volt down too 7-9/16 which I think will make this drill even more popular. Another point of the design that proved popular is the built-in LED light that comes as standard with the LXFD01CW, very handy for those dark corners when drilling.

Versatile Uses:

Used by many different contractors because of its versatility the drill can be used for drilling holes to run pipework Makita LCT300Wby plumbers using spade drill bits with ease and believe me these are not the easiest drill bits to use and require a powerful drill to power through joists because of their diameter. Electricians will see the benefits of having a compact drill when running cable and have to drill in between stud work which can be quite restrictive. They will also benefit from the easy trigger action being able to screw socket faceplate without damaging them.

Product Features 4-pole motor for 480 inch-pounds max torque; 2-speed transmission (0-400 / 0-1,500 RPM) 7-9/16 inches long; weighs only 3.3 pounds Built-in LED light illuminates work area Battery and charger produce 430 percent more total lifetime work, 2.5 times more cycles Backed by a 3-year warranty on tool; 1-year warranty on battery and charger

Pros and Cons:

Some might say it doesn’t feel like a heavy-duty drill because of its weight and size, but this is not really the case. It packs plenty of power and has been designed for hard work and be used for long periods of time, heavier and bigger doesn’t always mean more power. With the addition of the LED light, you should never be struggling to do jobs in those dark corners.
